Senior Accountant

We are now assisting in the recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team in Limassol. The Senior Accountant will be primarily responsible for maintaining accounting and financial records, generating financial and management reports, and executing and instituting a comprehensive set of controls and budgets. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Maintaining timely and accurate accounting and financial records in adherence to generally accepted accounting principles, international financial reporting standards, company policies, and statutory obligations.
  • Accounting Controls: recommend and follow a robust system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Execution of month-end / quarterly closure process ensuring accuracy and completeness of accounting records by reviewing the general ledger and performing adjusting entries.
  • Preparation and further development of financial accounts and management reports on monthly, quarterly and annual basis and perform financial and operational analysis for management purposes. Propose additional quarterly financial / operational benchmarks for evaluating company operations.
  • Liaise with external auditors in providing relevant information for the annual audit
  • Coordinate with auditors and assist in the preparation of audited financial statements and other reports required for regulatory / statutory reporting.
  • Administer payroll processing including controls on the payroll interface, submitting related documents / returns to Social insurance, tax office and other government bodies and timely settling associated dues and recording accounting entries. 
  • Preparation of VAT, VIES reports on a quarterly basis and payment of / recovering VAT dues / receivables. 
  • Ensure and administer / coordinate compliance with all tax obligations and associate payments.
  • Oversee cash flow management and perform all bank and cash reconciliations on a regular basis reporting to the Finance Manager. 
  • Oversee the monitoring of debtors (including debtors’ reconciliations), perform debtors’ evaluation and participate and coordinate debtors’ collections. 
  • Oversee the monitoring of creditors (including creditors’ reconciliations), perform creditors’ evaluation and ensure prompt and timely payment of accounts payable. 
  • Participating / contributing in the contracts management (sales and purchase contracts) function, primarily in the process of invoice issuance and recording and in controlling / ensuring its timely, accurate and prompt execution.
  • Monitoring and participating in the procurement function and the timely, accurate and prompt execution and recording.
  • Monitoring and exerting control on administrative and operational expenses via the abovementioned management reporting and informing management promptly.
  • Budget Management: Annually, oversee the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
  • Statutory Compliance: Comply with statutory reporting requirements. 
  • Ensure the proper administrative processes, including proper document and archives management, of the financial function are in place and properly executed; Other administrative tasks relating to securing government or corporate subsidies and participating in certain schemes. 
  • Communication with various counterparties for the proper functioning of the department such as banks, clients, vendors, lawyers, government and auditors among others.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a relevant field is desired. LCCI Higher Diploma is required.
  • 5+ Years of work experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar role.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • Computer literacy: Advanced Excel skills will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience in SAP will be considered an advantage. 
  • Experience in the information technology and/or professional services industry will be considered an advantage. 
  • Fluent in Greek and English language is required.
