Job Description

An established Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) based in Nicosia, Cyprus, this firm provides comprehensive management services for funds across multiple investment strategies, including Real Estate, Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Fund of Funds, and other specialized asset classes.


As part of a leading international group focused on the management and recovery of complex distressed real estate equity and debt investments, the company combines technical expertise with strategic insight to deliver value-driven results for institutional clients and investors.


Position: AML Compliance Officer

The AML Compliance Officer will play a key role in ensuring the company’s adherence to all relevant regulatory frameworks, supporting governance integrity, and maintaining a robust compliance culture across the organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review internal policies and procedures to ensure full alignment with regulatory obligations and the company’s Internal Operations Manual.
  • Oversee and evaluate core compliance areas such as AML/KYC procedures, corporate governance, and reconciliation processes, providing detailed reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Monitor and communicate updates on new legislation, CySEC circulars, and directives to management and key stakeholders.
  • Identify staff training needs, maintain training registers, and ensure ongoing professional development in compliance matters.
  • Provide expert guidance on corrective actions; escalate issues to the Board where significant weaknesses or risks are detected.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with MOKAS (the Financial Intelligence Unit) during investigations and inquiries.
  • Maintain and update risk-based client categorization lists.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments covering existing and new clients, financial instruments, and services.
  • Continuously enhance systems and procedures for effective risk management.
  • Evaluate and approve third-party service providers relied upon for client identification and due diligence.
  • Prepare and submit the Monthly Prevention Statement to CySEC, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Draft and deliver the Annual AML Compliance Report to the Board of Directors.
  • Respond to all AML-related queries and requests from MOKAS and CySEC promptly and accurately.


Candidate Profile

  • CySEC AML Certification is mandatory.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar AML Compliance role.
  • Prior experience within an AIFM or in the AIF/AIFM regulatory environment is considered an advantage.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) with the ability to analyze and present complex data clearly.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and a collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Greek.
