Job Description
Most compliance roles maintain systems that already exist. This one helps build the system from the ground up.
A fast-growing fintech startup is creating a new kind of financial firm — one designed with AI at its core. The goal is to give high-income professionals access to the kind of financial infrastructure historically reserved for the ultra-wealthy: personalized investment strategies, tax optimization, financial planning, and institutional-grade trading capabilities.
Instead of large private banking teams, the company is building powerful AI tools that allow a small group of advisors to deliver deeply personalized financial strategies to thousands of clients globally.
With committed funding and a growing team across Europe, they are now looking for a Compliance Officer to build and operate the compliance function as the business scales.
What you’ll be doing
• Own the full client onboarding lifecycle (KYC/AML, suitability, appropriateness, ongoing monitoring and periodic reviews)
• Manage regulatory reporting and maintain required compliance records
• Review marketing materials and client communications for MiFID II compliance
• Develop and maintain practical internal policies and procedures
• Monitor EU regulatory developments and translate them into clear business guidance
• Work closely with product and engineering teams to embed compliance into operational workflows
• Support regulatory interactions and supervisory requests when required
What they’re looking for
• 3–5+ years’ experience in a regulated environment (investment firm, CIF, wealth manager or similar)
• Strong working knowledge of MiFID II, AML/KYC frameworks, and CySEC requirements
• A solution-oriented compliance mindset — someone who finds compliant paths forward rather than defaulting to “no”
• Independence, strong judgment, and the ability to build processes rather than simply follow them
• Excellent written communication skills
• Comfort using modern AI tools to improve efficiency and scale compliance processes
Why this opportunity stands out
- This isn’t a “tick-the-boxes” compliance role inside a large institution.
- You’ll be building the compliance framework for a next-generation fintech, working closely with product and engineering teams to design systems that scale to thousands of clients without scaling headcount.
- If you’re excited by the idea of shaping compliance in a company that is rethinking how wealth management works in Europe, this role could be a defining step in your career.
